Rawlings tells why Kwamena Ahwoi is 'attacking' him

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has in a recent social media post addressed the accusations levelled against him by his former appointee, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, in his book ‘Working with Rawlings’

Rawlings said the book, which gives a ‘chilling’ account of his 19-year rule as Head of State of Ghana, was purposely timed to denigrate his reputation, in a grand scheme of taking over the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Rawlings, the release of the book, is hinged on an anticipated loss of the NDC in the upcoming general elections. He said, Kwamena Ahwoi wants to take advantage of a possible Mahama defeat, in creating a division and consolidating control over the NDC.

He alleged that, if successful, the new party 'overlords' will introduce their own flagbearer for 2024 general elections.

Mr. Rawlings has been upfront about his unhappiness regarding how he has been portrayed in a controversial book authored by Kwamena Ahwoi.

The book, titled “Working with Rawlings’ has become a social media sensation, and details in the eyes of Prof Ahwoi, some of the controversial decisions and noteworthy events that occurred during the reign of Rawlings.

Rawlings had earlier warned that he will soon deal with the “callous agenda of bile by the likes of Kwamena Ahwoi”

Rawlings said despite it being tiring, engaging in self-defence after all these years, he will still take on the individuals like Kwamena Ahwoi, who are supposedly seeking to  destroy his legacy.
