Bayern’s head coach, Hans Flick has admitted that accommodating Thiago Alcantara’s goodbye message was very emotional following his greater impact in German football and the Bayern Munich team.

Liverpool on Thursday morning agreed on a deal with Bayern Munich for Thiago for £20m guaranteed, paid over the life of the contract with an additional £5m to be earned through winning the Premier League or the Champions League, as well as progression into and through the Champions League stages, sky sports revealed.

The player was a key part of Han Dieter Flick’s triple 2020 squad that secured the treble – Bundesliga, the DFB Pokal, and the Champions League.

At Bayern’s first pre-match interview of the season, the manager remarked on the quality of Thiago and the value of player Liverpool have acquired.

"Thiago is an exceptional player who spent seven hugely successful years here. He's a wonderful person and an outstanding professional. It was very emotional today when he said goodbye to us all.

 

 

“I congratulate Jurgen Klopp. He gets a top player and a sensational person," he said.

The 29-year old Spaniard will fly to England today to undergo medical. He is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Premier League champions.
