Speaking to Mr Robert Tetteyfio Adjase, a presidential staffer from the office of the presidency has described the act as barbaric after several efforts are been made to make sure the people of Nuaso are connected back to the  national grid and note that the people of Nuaso are still in darkness after power restored to Krobo land.

He assured that they will work tirelessly to help restore power to Nuaso due to the impact on the local economy, security and health.

It was discovered on Friday November 11, 2022 at Adelakope in the Yilo Krobo Municipality on the Tema-Akosombo highway that another pole, next to an earlier one cut down in August this year, was sawn into two with the disjointed pole still standing.

It appeared the culprits' used a logging machine to engage in the act, he said.

Mr Adjase who believe the incident may be as a result of the long existing misunderstanding between the Krobos and ECG but called for calm among the people of Nuaso and unity among the chiefs to help solve  the ECG-Krobo menace.

The affected line supplies power to Adelakope, Akorley, Adukrom water pumping station amongst other places.

Though it's not clear exactly when the act was committed, the latest discovery comes precisely three months after a pole right next to the current incident was similarly cut to the ground by unknown persons.

The team spent close to two hours on the scene as they excavated a six-feet deep hole into which a new pole was lodged to hold the cables to avert a possible interruption in the network.

The earlier incident was perpetrated during the peak of the impasse between the power company and it's Krobo customers over the installation of prepaid meters in the area. It’s unclear if the latest discovery is linked to the impasse as the ongoing prepaid metering exercise nears its final stages.

The the people of Nuaso has seriously kicked against the installation of prepaid in the area and it will be recalled that eight persons believed to be victims of military brutality and received treatment at the St. Martin De Porres hospital in Agormanya for suspected gunshot wounds.

The wounded are residents of Nuaso in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality, where Electricity Company of Ghana personnel tried to install prepaid meters.

An earlier reports indicated that the ECG with military personnel stormed houses in the Nuaso area to install prepaid meters and subjected the aresidents who refused to accept the meters to beatings and the people of Nuaso were subsequently cut off from the power grid after the tensions leading to the tension the people and Electricity Company Limited.
