Mohamed Salah says revenge is not on his mind as Liverpool prepare to face Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals in Spain.

The match brings to mind the shoulder injury of the Egyptian by the Spain defender which led to his exit from the game in the 30-minute when Liverpool were on top knocking on the door of Real Madrid.

Liverpool lost the game by 3-1 as Los Blancos clinched their 13th Champions League title in Kiev before the Reds went ahead to win the trophy six months later in Spain against Tottenham Hotspurs, a game in which Mohamed Salah netted the opener.

The two sides will meet on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, and the 28-year old has told that he is focused on their recent meeting since the past cannot be rectified.

“That game is in the past, so I don't think about it. I'm thinking about the team. Everyone is focused on their team and everyone wants to win… that's it,” the 28-year-old told Marca.

“What's going to happen now isn't going to change the result of the final in Kiev. That's in the past.

“Let's just say that I have special motivation to win the tie and go through to the semi-finals.”
