Western Regional Minister Descends Heavily On Kennedy Agyapong

The NPP presidential aspirant who doubles as the Assin Central Member of Parliament Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong as part of his presidential Aspirant campaign with his supporters and party delegates chastised Vice President Dr. Bawumia for his inability to rescue Ghana's economy despite his claims as being an economic strategist.

The outspoken presidential aspirant indicated that it is abnormal for a Vice President who was directly connected to the President to make divulgence of his readiness to change the country's bad economic situation when given the mandate to serve as President regardless of his poor contribution to governance when he was directly contributing to the failed government.

Responding to this, the Western Regional Minister, Mr Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah has stated that it is a great blunder for Mr. Kennedy Agyapong to link the economic challenges to Dr. Mahamud Bawumia because it was the wake of Covid 19 and the Russia Ukraine war that affected most economies for which Ghana is part hence attributing the current fall in the country's economic growth to the Vice President is way off target.

 He indicated that After all, it was a global crisis that affected almost every economy and so the swift attention by Akufo Addo - Bawumia government ensured the stabilization of the economy after the decline of the global pandemic.

He reiterated that the Nana Addo/ Bawumia administration after the destruction caused by the pandemic has confidently managed the economy as a result of good governance and policies hence it is unfair for Bawumia to be accused as the cause of the economic mayhem. 

The Western regional minister also labeled the crisis being confronted in the energy sector to what he described as the incompetence of governance during the former president  Mahama's regime hence the economic and energy predicaments being encountered by the nation cannot be blamed on Bawumia. 

Mr Okyere Darko Mensah Added that the NPP as a political party has mechanisms to protect itself hence if the campaign messages ahead of the primaries go wayward, the executives will step in to prevent any damage that may be caused by the aspirants through their utterances. 

He revealed that some people are with the impression that President Akufo Addo is solidly behind Dr Bawumia's flagbearer ambition.

But he refuted these claims indicating that the love and support for Bawumia for the flagbeareship position is a result of his humbleness, competence, and hardworking towards the develop of Ghana and NPP that makes him stands tall among his contestants.

He cautioned the 10 contestants to embark on evidence base campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks to avoid disruption in the party.
