We Are Living In Destroy Time Under Akufo-Addo, NPP Regime—General Mosquito Jabs
THE NATIONAL Chairman of the National Democratic Congress ((NDC), Honourable
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known General Mosquito, has lambasted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for protecting his appointees, politicians and government officials who have committed high profile corrupt practices in the country.

Mr Nketiah mocked President Akufo-Addo claimed of fighting corrupt practices in public institutions in Ghana, saying that the pieces of evidence available to them clearly shows that President Akufo-Addo is rather protecting many government appointees who have committed huge corrupt acts in this country.

He stated that the current action of President Akufo-Addo to ignore several concerns raised by many Ghanaians, pressure groups, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and media practitioners to sack the Governor of Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison from his duty post for mismanaging Central Bank, unlawful printing of money, using tax payer money to build BoG edifice and corruption related issues were also the clear indications that President Akufo-Addo is covering up corrupt practices of many corrupt politicians and appointees of his government.

"We are currently living in the destroy time under the regime of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Out democratic dispensation system is not working again in Ghana under the rule of President Akufo-Addo. We are living in fear and panic state now.

Currently if you dare challenging the judges of their judgements or ruling on certain issues, you will be cited for contempt of court," Honourable Nketiah expressed this sentiment when he was speaking in an interview with Angel Television on Wednesday October 4, 2023.

According to him, it has showed that President Akufo-Addo has woefully failed in his fight against corruption.
Honourable Nketiah stated that the president’s actions and complicity have emboldened many of his officials, not just the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison and his Vice President, Alhaji Bawumia whose names had come up in multiple corruption scandals.
“President Akufo-Addo’s silence on corruption in his infamous address was loud. It was as loud as his guilt. Evidently, corruption has defeated his family and friends’ government. Instead of confronting this canker head-on, President Akufo-Addo has constituted himself into a “Corruption Clearing Agent”, ever-willing to whitewash himself and any of his appointees who dabble in corruption, even before investigative processes commence.
“The President’s actions and complicity have emboldened many of his officials, not least the Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison, whose name has come up in multiple corruption scandals such as the unlawful printing of money, using tax payer money to build BoG edifice and corruption related issues.

He stated that the current leaders and members of the NPP in the government institutions have been involved in the misappropriating state resources but he was wondered why President Akufo-Addo was silence on corruption of these corrupt individuals in his government.

The protesters have warned the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison to resign.
According to the protesters are mainly the sympathizers, members and supporters of the NDC, the governor and his deputies must resign after running the country into a ditch.
During a press briefing the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, said the governor had been found culpable of various breaches in the Bank of Ghana Act.
“In this regard, we call for the resignation of the Governor of the Central Bank and his deputies. We are resolved to protest on popular action to occupy the Central Bank and drive out the team of inept, callous, and criminal mis-managers of the finances of this country and Save the Bank of Ghana,” he said.
Dr Ato Forson noted however that, “the March to Ensure Accountability will continue if the Governor of the Bank of Ghana does not do the needful and pack bag and baggage out of that sacred institution that he has so desecrated.”
It is important to state that the Governor breached (7) of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2012 (Act 612) as amended.
It is now obvious that many more members of the Akuffo Addo Government will likely be keeping several more millions of dollars in their bedrooms and building a war chest to illegally buy electoral votes at both party primaries and the upcoming general elections of December 2024.
We will not be surprised if members of the Economic Management Team involved in these contests make a strong showing.
We in the NDC will continue to explore ways of rescuing this country to prevent it from the doom that has befallen several West African countries.

The IMF has made offers to assist the Government develop a plan for the recapitalization of the Central Bank (see paragraph 18 of the Ghana's Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policy (MEFP)).
It is however our position that those who have so recklessly mismanaged the Central Bank and brought it to its knees cannot remain at the helm of affairs of the bank without being held accountable.
Those who have by their reckless and criminal conduct unleashed economic hardship and financial distress on the suffering people of Ghana must be held to account.
