A husband and wife have met their untimely death at Ahenema Kokoben New Site in the Ashanti Region after a wall collapsed on them in the middle of the night following heavy rain on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Husband, Banda Doryi 32, and wife Joyce Lawah, 42 met the tragic death on Saturday night when they were discovered buried in their room on Sunday morning by the landlord, Mr Yaw Agyare also known as Papa Ajasco.

“They have lived in the house for two years now,” he said.

"There was heavy rain last Saturday nightfall and a flood was created at the back of his wall which I believe did weaken the concrete and fell on them.

“When I woke up in the morning, I was informed by someone that the wall has fallen. I then decided to check if the occupants were available and on checking the back wall, I saw them buried in the fallen sand and called people to come around.

“We then called the Police and invited them,” he said.

According to the brother of the deceased, Albert Doryi, he used to stay with Banda Doryi at Santasi until he left their abode to seek his own pastures.

He narrated that the deceased woman, Joyce Lawah is a native of Techiman and was his brother’s wife although he spoke he had no knowledge of their union.

“We used to stay at Santasi roundabout and he left us to stay at Nkoranza before moving to this current location,” he opened.

“I was called by someone that my brother has suffered this fate.

“I didn’t know the lady. The woman was at Techiman and they met here in Kumasi.

“Some of our family members have been deployed to the woman’s hometown to inform the family.”

The bodies have been deposited at the mortuary.
