Manchester United have been dumped out of the Champions League into Europa after losing 3-2 in Germany to RB Leipzig.

The English side won and lost three matches in Group H and had nine points falling to third on the table.

Angelino opened the scores as early as the second minute.

United were half asleep as a ball from the right sailed across the box. Wan-Bissaka allowed the on-loan Manchester City player space to fire a strike from about 15 yards for the opener.

Manchester United’s first chance fell for Mason Greenwood seven minutes later. The Englishman was in absolute acres of space about 20 yards out. He moved into the area and got it onto his left foot. All looked set for the net to ripple but Gulácsi made a comfortable stop to deny them an equalizer.

Hiadara in the 13-minute added Leipzig’s second after a simple yet effective football that opened up United. Angelino once again involved in the buildup - he clipped a lofted ball over Telles at the back post. Haidara after receiving the ball charged in and thumped a first-time finish past De Gea.

The Germans almost added the third after another ball in from the left took every Manchester United player out of the equation. Forsberg was only being eight yards out in the centre of goal but stabbed a woeful effort the wrong side of the post.

United had a few spaces to drive into but the defence of Leipzig occupied by Konate, Orban and Mukiele prevented them from trespassing.

The second half saw another goal from Kluitvert for Leipzig’s third, 59 seconds after Bruno Fernandes had hit the bar. The hosts initiated a counter with two forwards and Maguire was hesitant again in his area as a ball across goal was seized upon by the young striker and he finished it with a little chip over De Gea.

The Red Devils began to control the game and engaged in shooting long-range balls from 25-yards out to try Gulácsi.

The Red Devils pulled a goal back through Fernandes in the 80-minute from the spot after Greenwood was fouled by Konate in the yard box. Two minutes later, Paul Pogba who was brought on for Nemanja Matic notched United’s second.
