Following efforts by the Volta Regional Police command to engage schools on defilement and modes adopted by sexual predators to exploit them, the team has visited the Nuriya Islamic Basic School and Dora Memorial School Complex, in Ho municipality.

ASP Faustina Awumey, the coordinator for the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit in the Volta region took time to educate the pupils on defilement and the need for them to be bold and report offenders immediately they occur. Girls were also advised against early child marriages and asked to report parents and guardians who intend to give them out for marriages at tender ages.
Pupils were also educated on other sexual offenses such as indecent assault, sodomy, sexual harassment, among others.
At the Nuriya Islamic Basic School, for example, a JHS 3  pupil, Khadija Shafiu stated that she has been enlightened to avoid entering rooms of teachers and tenants who send them on errands.
Another pupil, Adela Sena Ahmed indicated that before the engagement, he did not know that boys could also be victims of sexual abuses and had gained insight into the area.
A teacher, Madam Judith Kuseto, was full of praise for the team especially when the speakers touched on early child marriages since she said were predominant among Muslim communities.
