Turkish spy chief holds talks with Sudanese leaders

With Sudanese military authorities in Khartoum on Monday, Turkish espionage head Hakan Fidan discussed intelligence exchange and other topics of mutual interest.

Separate meetings between Mr. Fidan and the leaders of Sudan's Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Lt. Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, took place (Hemeti).

Lt Gen Ahmed Ibrahim Mufadal, head of Sudan's intelligence, was present at both sessions, according to Sudan TV.

Mr. Fidan expressed support for the framework agreement that some pro-democracy groups and the military officials signed on December 5 in his nation.

Turkey was one of the international players who supported the agreement, which was designed to open the door for Sudan to once again have civilian rule.

Islamist and pro-military organizations, meanwhile, have criticized the agreement.
