There are escalating tensions created by the release of the Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executive nominations by the Local Government Ministry through the Minister Honorable Dan Botwe on September 19, 2021.

Before the list was made public, enormous press releases were cautioning the President not to renominate current DCEs in Fanteakwa North District, Suhum, and Nsawam.

The Fanteakwa North youth in the Eastern Region on their part are seething with anger as they sit on tenterhooks for the announcement of a District Chief Executive.

The youth who have held several press conferences and sent petitions against the renomination of the District Chief Executive, Charles Oware Tweneboah said, "We remain resolute and will resist any attempt to impose the DCE on the District".

According to the angry youth, some Chiefs in Begoro have intensified their lobbying for the DCE to be retained for their selfish gains.

The statement issued by the youth group calling itself Begoro Youth Development Association, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, few hours before the announcement reminded President Nana Akufo-Addo not to renominate the DCE accusing him of incompetence over his abysmal performance.

“Begoro Youth Development Association would like to remind His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on a petition to his noble Office dated 19th May 2021 against renomination of Hon Charles Oware Tweneboah from the Youth in Begoro and Fanteakwa North at Large” the statement issued Signed by the Director of Operations Staph Ahmed said.

“We are by this communique reiterating once again that the Youth in Begoro and Fanteakwa North cannot and will not work with Hon Charles Oware Tweneboah for his abysmal performance for the past Four years Nine Months in office as District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa North”.

The statement continued “We are assuring the President that, the youth will work with any other person apart from Hon Charles Oware Tweneboah, but will resist his appointment if he is renominated again as DCE for Fanteakwa North”.

However, the caution by the youth of Fanteakwa North has fallen into death ears and  “the Youth are aggressively planning to hit the streets after the Local Government Minister released of the list of MMDCEs on Sunday, September 19, 2021, and retained their former DCE Charles Oware Tweneboah, the Youth leadership emphasized.

They have threatened to make the party unpolished because the NPP regional executive is only thinking about their selfish interest.

"We are highly disappointed in Nana Addo for failing to address our plea and we will help make the government unpopular as the party has ignored our petitioned and advised because this DCE has made the party unpopular already in the District with his incompetence and abysmal performance over the past four years", they stated.

Additionally, Suhum, Upper West Akyem, Asuogyaman, Afram Plains North, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Birim North amongst others are to witness misunderstandings among party faithful over the nomination of Chief Executives.
