The Gomoa West District Assembly in the Central Region has distributed over 7, 588 seedlings of trees to the farmers in the district as part of the community mass production of the crop.

The project which is under the government’s flagship programme; Ecosystem Restoration and Green Ghana project is being facilitated between the Assembly and Member of Parliament for Gomoa West Constituency.

Speaking to the media, the District Chief Executive for Gomoa West District, Mr Nkoom advised the project beneficiaries to make sure that there be a regular check-up by watering every two or three days to make sure that trees are sustained for the future.

He told Soireenews they will not plant only trees but make sure to root up seedlings that will bear fruit for consumption in the future.

For his part, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa West Constituency, Honourable Richard Gyan Mensah added that  Assembly Members who benefit from the Green Ghana trees project should encourage their residents to plant more trees.

"We are pleading with you to tell  Ghanaians to plant more trees so that ecosystem restoration project and climate change will be free in Ghana," he said.
