Akosua Adjepong has warned artistes to stop victimising other artistes that perform for any political party.

According to her, artistes tell their fans in one party to stop listening to you if you perform for another party out of spite.

The veteran maintained that music is business to an artist and it doesn't matter which party calls to ask for a performance as long as they'll be paid.

She said this concerning fellow artistes who deliberately backbite and incite others against colleagues blessed enough to be called by political parties.

The ones who spread negative information that gets the public to lose interest in other artiste's brand and content.

Akosua Adjepong lamented that she is suffering from a similar thing in the industry after she performed for the late former president, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, with her song, Esiwa.

A phenomenon that she says starts from inside the industry.

“I want Ghanaians and industry people to understand something that when a president or a politician invites someone to come perform for them, they should not gossip among themselves that the person is from this party or from that party so they boycott the person’s songs.

“After Rex and I performed for President Rawlings, it was rumoured that I was an NDC person and so people boycotted my new song, Esiwa."

"People did not buy the song because it was rumoured that I was an NDC member meanwhile when someone like President Kufuor calls me to come to perform, I go. It is just our business and people should stop destroying it with their envy,” she said.
