Government should not open Borders for Anyone - Gloria Sarfo.

Ghanaian actress, Gloria Sarfo has stated that the country’s borders need not be opened for anyone and anything. She appealed to the government to not listen to the cries of anyone to expose the borders for any reason as the country has enough on its plate to deal with currently.

When the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo closed the borders of Ghana on the 21st of March, 2020, as part of preventive measures against the importation of the novel coronavirus, many Ghanaians, especially entertainers got stuck abroad. Some have stated reasons as to why there is the need for government to open the border and bring the Ghanaians stucked home.

Gloria Sarfo does not support the motion as she is of the impression that it would be a reckless and unsafe move.

In an interview with Happy98.9FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’ Producer, Mercy Bee, the award winner revealed that, “The government opening our borders temporarily for Ghanaians stuck outside to return may be problematic, but if the government can go for them just as other countries are doing then, I think that is feasible”.

"Even with our borders closed, people find their way into the country and tested positive for the virus. It is worth it if the government extradites them because it is the civil right, but it should be done accordingly. At least they will feel good being quarantined in their own country than being elsewhere”.
