Rex Omar has joined the number of celebrities that have come in the defence of John Dumelo's political aspirations.

The spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) blasted his colleague, Socrate Sarfo, after the filmmaker and a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stated that John Dumelo is not fit to be a Member of Parliament.

The Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture (NCC) Categorically stated that John cannot be a leader of any constituency because the Ayawaso West Wuogon NDC parliamentary candidate has pointed fingers at NPP for selling Ghana Films Industry Corporation.

“A Film Actor in Ghana who says Ghana Films Industry Corporation was sold out by NPP is not competent to lead a constituency.” He said.

Rex Omar has quickly pointed out that Socrate Sarfo's attacks on John Dumelo are needless and they only show that he is a shallow minded person.

According to him, an entertainer should never stoop so low as to talk about a colleague that way even if it is to gain gain favour in his political party.

"What do you gain from attacking fellow industry people without any provocation? If you think doing that will

make you look good in your party my friend think again because it rather exposes your shallow mindedness. Learn to be in your lane. Industry FIRST.” He fumed.

Rex Omar becomes the latest stakeholder to defend John Dumelo against individuals who say the actor is not fit to lead.

Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo had earlier called out Ayorkor Botchwey after the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration stated that actors and entertainers have no business in Parliament business.

Arnold mentioned prominent celebrities who have gone into politics including the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989, Ronald Reagan, and an Austrian-American actor, businessman, retired professional bodybuilder and former politician who served as the 38th Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“My biggest disappointment is the woman who made that comment because, in my estimation, I felt that the woman is really exposed and she is exposed, and if she is indeed with the creative arts industry as is being claimed here then she made a lot of ignorant comments on that platform…"

"all over the world, people who are movie actors are popular, and as exposed as this woman is, she should have known that Ronald Reagan, when he contested for president no one said because he is an actor no one should vote for him, nobody said Arnold Schwarzenegger because he is a movie actor and popular, no one should vote for him…” he said.
