Public Relations Officer for Sunyani Central Prisons, DSP Johan Nii Narh Nartey has said social distancing observation is one of the challenges facing the inmates.

According to him,  it has been difficult for his outfit to observe social distancing because the cell has taken more than its capacity.

He, therefore, called on the government to expand the facility so that it can accommodate the inmates.

Notwithstanding, DSP Johan Nii Narh Nartey said they have created a quarantine cell where the new inmates are lodged for two weeks before they move them to the main cell. This is to ensure that the new ones do not infect the inmates with the virus.

Touching on some challenges making it difficult for his outfit to strictly adhere to the safety protocols, he expressed worry over how inadequate water supply has become a problem in this covid-19 era.
