Shatta Wale, others spice up ‘Taste of Ghana’

There was never a dull moment from the time he entered the stage at 11:20 p.m. to conclude the recently concluded fourth edition of the "Taste of Ghana" festival until he departed an hour and a half later. He almost incited a frenzy among his crowd.

He played hit after hit from his vast library of music to the people assembled at the State House Forecourt, and they were infatuated.

He got revelers of the well-attended event jamming to over 20 songs including ‘Baby Chop Kiss’, ‘Ayoo’, ‘Level’, ‘Comfortable Lead’, ‘Melissa’, ‘Mahama Paper’, ‘Gringo’, ‘Taking Over’ etc and when he was done with his act, they just couldn’t help but chant for more even as he walked off stage.

The pleasant things that transpired to the patrons that evening extended beyond Shatta. When the "Taste of Ghana" organizers, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), in association with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), revealed the performers on the schedule, excitement was understandably high.

Thus, Shatta Wale's fellow talented Ghanaian musicians, including R2Bees, EL, Gasmilla, Adina, Fancy Gadam, Eno Barony, and Kofi Jamal, were warmly embraced. They all performed as anticipated, delighting the customers.

There was a fashion show before the concert, when models walked the catwalk. Selsam Couture, Doramp Fashion House, Brand Wear Ghana, ZaQi, Kustom Looks Clothier, and Thembi Republic by musician Adina Thembi were among the designers who displayed their works.

In 2020, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) launched "Taste of Ghana," their flagship Christmas program, in association with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and the Ministry of Information. Additionally, they received support from Beyond the Return Secretariat (BTR).

This year’s event themed, ‘GH: The Africa Dream’, showcased among others the distinct and authentic richness of Ghanaian heritage through music, food, arts, and culture.
