Arsenal are reportedly on the blink of completing a €20 million (£17.2m) deal to sign Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga, 

Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his midfield engine this summer as the Gunners have already lost Dani Ceballos, while Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira are both expected to be sold.

The Gunners has identified Lokonga as a viable replacement and they have now reached an agreement with Anderlecht.

Widespread reports in Belgium suggest that Lokonga went to London on Friday to undergo his medical with Arsenal and to finalize his move to the Premier League.

Sambi is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Belgium after making his first-team breakthrough at Anderlecht and captained the team last season.

According to reports, the legendary Thierry Henry, who returned as a coach with Belgium’s national team for Euro 2020 has personally recommended Sambi Lokonga to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal also trying to bolster their defensive set-up and a third offer has now been submitted to Brighton for Ben White.

Arteta is understood to view White as a future Arsenal captain and the Gunners have already seen their opening two offers for the 23-year-old turned down, including one worth £42m upfront plus an additional £4m in add-ons.

Arsenal’s improved offer now stands at £54m, with £48m to be paid upfront plus a further £6m in performance-related bonuses.
