Manchester United would be looking forward to adding Declan Rice to their collection in the summer as he keeps impressing for the Hammers as captain.

The English player made his 100th cap against Crystal Palace on Wednesday having been involved in every Premier League game this season for David Moyes side.

The player was linked to Chelsea in the summer when Lampard recommended him to help seal the Blues backline after his £200m expenditure on new acquisitions.

The Daily Express reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a strong admirer of Rice and have planned to sign him to strengthen the squad despite Chelsea's relationship with the Hammers captain. The player’s history with Chelsea after being released by the London club at age 14 is key to his decision to reunite and challenge for honours under Frank Lampard.

According to Fabrizio Romano speaking to the ‘Here We Go’ podcast, "Declan Rice is still pushing to join Chelsea. But it is up to Chelsea to negotiate a fee with West Ham, which will be difficult in January."

His current contract runs out in 2024 and his sales would be a big bargain for the Hammers who would not want to lose their captain for cheap.

Chelsea’s delay to get on board the 21-year-old in January could face stiffer competition from Manchester United who sees the player as an option in both midfield and centre back.

Ole GUNNAR Solskjaer would prefer to improve their squad after the season rather than panic buying in January and according to reports, a list of players have already been settled on to give more depth within the squad.
