Bayern Munich must overturn a 3-2 deficit in the home of Paris Saint Germain to keep the Champions League defence on track on Tuesday night.

The German club last Wednesday were powerless to convert their chances but travel to Paris although there is no doubt the holders have the quality to get the result they need – as they showed in a largely dominant display in Munich, but it will take more clinical finishing and a faultless defensive performance.

Kylian Mbappé and Marquinhos put Paris two up inside the opening half-hour, but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Müller gave them a lifeline before Mbappé had the final say by finishing superbly for his second and his team's third.

Paris Saint Germain are very prepared to win the trophy for the first time in history and a repeat of last week’s display could be on the way after Mauricio Pochettino comments that his side are poised for victory against such a bigger opposition.

"For me, anything can happen. Bayern are the best team in the world at the moment. I have enormous respect for them, but at the same time, we have confidence in our strengths, and we know that we have to think about winning this match," the PSG coach said.

Bayern will have to score two goals, and that is the focus of Hansi Flick at the moment. The Bayern coach is optimistic that a ‘mini upset’ can be caused in Paris to put his side on the path to the semi-finals.

"We know we have to score at least two goals. It will be a tough task, but these are the games we play football for. We want to cause a mini upset in Paris. Of course, we'll be delighted if we manage that."
