Police investigate into the death of Tweneboah Kodua SHS final year student

The 19-year-old student allegedly attempted to scale a wall together with his colleagues but his chest landed in a gutter behind the wall and died.

The Kumawu District Police command has commenced investigations into the circumstance that led to the death of a final year student of Tweneboah Kodua Senior High School in the Ashanti region.

The police say the 19-year-old student allegedly attempted to scale a wall together with his colleagues but his chest landed in a gutter behind the wall and died.

The District Police Commander, DSP Opoku Agyemang Prempeh told Kumasi FM's Elisha Adarkwah that around 10 pm on September 21, 2021, the prep Master of the school popularly called "Ogidi" went to the dormitory to check whether the students had gone for prep.

He said when the students saw the prep Master who is also a Tutor of the school, they started to run helter-skelter.

Mr. Premph said the deceased, Edward Duut who was asleep at the time woke up to join his colleagues to escape by scaling the dormitory wall.

He said the deceased while scaling the wall, unfortunately, landed in a gutter behind the wall.

He was rushed to the Kumawu Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead in about 3 minutes upon arrival.

DSP Prempeh said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Besoro Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

He said statement forms have been given to the headmaster of the school to be given to witnesses in the school to write their statement including the prep Master.

Mr. Prempeh said no arrest has been made but investigations have been commenced into the incident.
