THE ATWIMA Nwabiagya South Constituency Youth Organsier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Mr Abdul Rasheed, has stated that they have uncovered that the members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) with supreme support of the Electoral Commission have been busily busing young people below the age of eighteen (18) years to register in the ongoing Limited Voters Biometric Registration Exercise in the constituency to enable the minors to vote in general elections in favour of the NPP to break its eight-year political jinx in Ghana.

According to him, the pieces of evidence available to them clearly show that ATWIMA Nwabiagya South District Electoral Officers of the EC are allowing the ruling NPP to bus minors in Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) to register, saying that they believed strongly that the current gross misconducts of the Electoral Commission headed by Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa and NPP officials may result in election result tampering.
Mr Rasheed Abdul reiterated that registrants who have not attained the age of eighteen years must refrain from persuasions from the NPP to ruin their future.
He added that NPP keeps pushing young ones below the age of eighteen years for the ongoing registration exercise, believing its illegal and can have negative impacts on the future of these registrants.
“The NPP is allegedly bussing people below the age of eighteen years for registration. I will urge the young guys to refrain from such persuasions, since it’s very dangerous and can ruin their future,” he noted.
Mincing no words, the NDC young politician called on the EC boss to warns to the District Electoral Officers to desist from any illegal act that will tarnish the image of the Commission and endanger the registration exercise.
He recalled that the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Adukwei Mensa was advised to heed the numerous calls from the various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to create more registration centres for a smooth and speedy limited voters’ registration process before it’s too late.
According to him, until the EC Chairperson pays close attention to the calls to extend the registration centres, there will be a suspicion that they are finding means to manipulate the elections come 2024.
“We don’t understand what the EC boss is doing. Why can’t they extend the registration centres if indeed they are doing genuine jobs? We presume they want to manipulate the elections results to favour the NPP in the near future,” he alleged.
