One robber killed, two injured, others on the run - Police confirm

At least one suspected armed robber has died while two others are seeking medical attention at the Obuasi government hospital.

Speaking to DSP Martin Assenso, the  Obuasi police commander, he said, the robbers were more than three in number, one died on the sport while the other two were rescued by the police.

Information gathered indicates that the suspects went to Yaa dome, a nearby community in the Akrofuom district for robbery.

Again, the information indicated that, when the people of Akrofuom town got the information from those of Yaa dome on the robbery, they quickly set a barrier towards the Akrofuom Yaa dome road for their arrest. they cited some gang in a sprinter bus with no registration number coming from the same stretch identified by the information heading to Akrofuom.

Furthermore, the people of Akrofuom stopped the bus and dropped the people from the bus which was onboard seven males. They started attacking them with stones and machetes.

Four of the robbers earlier escaped from the bus but the mob managed to arrest three of them. They include Sardick Mohammed 35, Issah Adams 39, and Kwabena Dagati  41.

 Weapons such as cutlass, pistol, AK-47, and other weapons were found from them. 

Residents say robbery is in a bit rise due to hardship and illegal mining activities that are ongoing in the district.
  

The resident is pleading for the enhancement of the security system in the communities which is dominant in mining within the district.
