One Constituency, $ 1 Million: Show Evidence of work done – MP Challenges Gov’t
Kwame Agbodza

Member of Parliament (MP) for the Adaklu constituency in the Volta Region, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has challenged the Akufo-Addo led Government to provide evidence on projects constructed in the Adaklu constituency under the flagship One Million per Constituency programme.

According to the MP, most of the projects said to have been done in the municipality under the said government’s initiative are untrue.

He mentioned that, out of a list of 12 projects presented to Parliament by the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson who was in the Parliament to answer questions related to her sector, only two of the projects were actually on the ground.

“I want to make it clear to the Minister that apart from the ambulance that she said, which we all know Adaklu is a beneficiary, and one three unit classroom block which has been started, none of the project is evident in Adaklu,” he noted.

Ms Hawa Koomson had told Parliament that the Government had allocated a number of projects to the Adaklu Constituency amounting to about GHC 6,718,788.74.

The Adaklu constituency MP also contested the amount of money the Minister claims as the cost of the projects listed in her answer.

“When you say you spent 6.7 million, the Adaklu people are expecting me to tell them that this is what has been done…Mr. Speaker, they didn’t spend 6.7 Million in Adaklu because some of the projects don’t even exist,” Mr. Agbodza alleged.

The Minister for Special Development Initiatives, outlined 12 projects including toilets, classroom blocks and mechanized boreholes at various levels of completion in the various communities in the Adaklu constituency in an answer to the Parliamentary question filed by the MP for Adaklu, who enquired about how much has been disbursed so far to his constituency per the One Million Dollars per Constituency programme.
