Okada Rider Murdered in Yilo Krobo

The murderer Akrofi allegedly hired the services of the deceased, Kwabena Opoku, well Known as Oboye Joe, an Okada rider, on the 20th of February, 2021, and allegedly murdered him in his farm at Okornya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

A 42-year-old farmer of Okornya in the Yilo Krobo District in the Eastern Region, Michael Akrofi, popularly known as Akro, has been arrested and remanded by the Koforidua Circuit Court B.

According to the Koforidua Public Relations Officer of the District Police Command, Chief Supt Raymond Erzuah, the murderer Akrofi allegedly hired the services of the deceased, Kwabena Opoku, well Known as Oboye Joe, an Okada rider, on the 20th of February, 2021, and allegedly murdered him in his farm at Okornya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

The suspect, Michael Akrofi is said to have scourged off the neck of the deceased Kwabena Opoku with a cutlass and buried him in his farm, and escaped with the deceased motor bicycle (Okada), which he sold later in Akyem Tekyiman at Eight Hundred Ghana cedis.

Chief Supt Erzuah said, on the 21st of February, 2021, a member from a family of the deceased named Maxwell Kumi filed a complaint of a missing Opoku (Oboy Joe), and the police commenced with the investigations into the matter.

The police PRO Lamented that the investigations revealed, Michael Akrofi succeeded to flee to the Western Region after selling the motorbike in an attempt to move to the Ivory Coast.

The police established that a brother of the suspect, invited the ex-convict to Accra, having heard of the crime, with the assurance to take him to a fetish priest at East Legon who can help perform some rituals to make the hunting ghost disappear and was immediately handed over to the police upon his arrival in greater Accra.

Michael Akrofi, the suspect has been remanded into police custody for further investigations to be reappeared on the 9th of April, 2021.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Koforidua government hospital for autopsy and preservation.
