immediate past Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Mr Frank Okpenyen addressing the executives of the NPP.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) would recapture the parliament seat from the Member of Parliament (MP) for Evalue- Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency in the Western Region, Mr Kofie Nokoe, because the governing party appears to be gaining grounds in the constituency because of the influence of immediate past Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Mr Frank Okpenyen.

This, according to the polling station executives and electoral area coordinators of the NPP in the constituency, who believes the party’s growth in terms of numbers has been encouraging since Mr Okpenyen has embarked on the New Patriotic Party polling station executive communities "Thank You Tour," to explain to them on how he would work assiduously in unity and that would geared towards accelerated development of the area ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to them, almost all the disgruntled voters who had voted against the NPP in the 2020 general elections have now began to fall for the NPP after the immediate past MCE has educated them to bury their differences and come and join the NPP to vote massively to win the parliamentary seat from the NDC come 2024 showdown.

So far, they indicated that the former MCE has completed his your by visiting all the 116 polling stations of the 25 electoral areas in Nzema East within Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency with the good messages to the polling station executives and electoral area coordinators to have hope to rebuild the structures of  NPP in the constituency after his exit as the MCE.

They added that there has been more improvement in the party’s growth within the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency after the tour of the former MCE.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, Mr Okpenyen
called on the rank and files of the NPP to prepare to wrestle parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament (MP) in the area, Mr Theophilus Kofie Nokoe in the 2024 general elections.

“We are here to thank all our party polling station executives and electoral areas branch coordinators from the Nzema East within the Evalue- Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency to the branch level including all the chiefs, and serial callers, who worked hard to support me when l was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo to steer administrative affairs of the Assembly for four years.

"Some of my colleagues could not end their four years period because the works entrusted in their hands are not easy at all. But God be so good to me I have worked to the expectation of the constituents to find solutions to some problems facing these communities include poor roads network, toilet facilities, electricity and bad state of some school buildings which has
transformd the municipality but unfortunately l was replaced by the President with with Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah.

"So l want to use this opportunity to thank you all and urge you to do away with your  differences so that we will ensure we work hard to wrestle the parliamentary seat from the NDC MP  come 2024,’’ Mr. Okpenyen told polling station executives and electoral areas branch coordinators during his Thank You Tour."

The tour also meant to identify problems confronting the polling station executives and and electoral areas branch coordinators and initiate strategies for solving them.

Addressing the gathering, the immediate past MCE expressed a great deal of gratitude on behalf of the President, Akufo-Addo and entire NPP to the executives  for their immense support during the 2020 general elections which brought the party into power.

He pointed out that after the announcement of the names for the positions of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana and subsequent confirmation of the MCE for the Nzema East, some polling station executives and electoral areas branch coordinators were aggrieved as a result of changing him and appoint a new MCE who does not work for the NPP in the area.

He pointed out that due to decision by the president to appoint the new MCE, some executives have refused to sign the book given to them to promote the party membership drive in the constituency level.

"We have registered our members but the polling station executives vowed not to work with the book because l waa changed as the MCE.

"So having be the peace maker and even considering t the party interest first, l decided to embark on tour to explain to them that they should work to sign the book which would help to bring peace and unity in the party of the area," he explained.

He said that out of 116 polling station in the 25 electoral areas within the municipality they have visited 95 polling stations, remaining 21 polling station to be visited.

According to him, the members of the NPP including the polling station executives and electoral areas branch coordinators are listening to his advise and gave assurance to rescind their decision to participate fully in the activities of the party which would help to rebuild the grassroots structure of the NPP in the constituency.

He maintained that, his is using the Thank You Tour” to revive the political spirit of the NPP to wrestle the MP seat from the NDC in the 2024 general elections.

He advised the membership of the party in the area to refrain from deviant behaviours that will affect their future.

He urged the farmers to embrace the government’s Planting for Food and Jobs flagship program to better their livelihoods.

He said the government exists for the general well-being of every Ghanaian so the people must bury their political differences and embark on serious farming, not only to promote food security in the country but also to enhance their standard of living.

The former MCE promised the community to work with the current MCE to steer the affairs of the Assembly.to bring the local governance system to the doorstep of the people in the area.
