An Evaluation Into The NABCO Journey

As a counter measure employed by the reigning political administration, the NPP government, to find an effective antidote to conquer graduate unemployment which had wrecked the youth down into melancholy prior to the assumption of office in 2016, the visionary leadership quality of the the president - His Excellency - Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo birthed NABCO on 1st May, 2018.

The NABCO scheme has employed 100,000 youths onto a work and learn platform, where they are currently building the requisite employable skills to secure their future. The program has been structured into a well-thoughtout template of addressing the root cause of youth unemployment - lack of employable skills.

 

Progress Report

The NABCO initiative provided 100,000 unemployed graduates with the opportunity to work and learn under the Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) and remunerated at GHC 700 on monthly basis. It is worth noting that this provision is unprecedented throughout the political history of Ghana.

As at the tail end of 2019, a year into the arrival of the scheme, over 11, 000 trainees (and still counting) have secured permanent employment and have exited successfully. Others have also ventured into their private businesses and acting as Module Implementation Partners to collaborate with their colleagues in the management of their enterprises. Those who identified specific fields of academic interest exited for further studies. These impact stories feed into the three exit pathways designed to provide guidance on transition to the beneficiaries (I. e. Retention, further studies, and entrepreneurship). Indeed, we are living the fruit of a robust administration dispensed by the NPP government.

Moreover, with a key focus on skill sets enhancement to boost the employability of trainees, NABCO launched an online portal to enable beneficiaries acquire more skills in addition to the practical experiences provided by the Module Implementation Partners, called NABCO Skills and Talent Academy (NSTA). The portal was opened shortly after it was launched by the president in October, 2019, during the one year anniversary celebration, held on 17th October. Trainees are currently undertaking their preferred courses.

Truly, the quest to invest in the youth through the provision of jobs has seen to the manifestation of an impressive dividend exploded through the aforementioned key impact stories. I have meticulously chronicled the impact stories, so that the general public can make an informed judgement. Some of the media houses have refused to attach the right tone in their news items, partly driven by partisan politics.

 

Has The NPP Not Delivered On Its Campaign Promise?

It would be tantamount to devilish machination to refuse to acknowledge the achievements of the current political administration (the NPP), for their three years in power. For the record, the nation has not had any intervention like NABCO, which has given hope to the youth.

The Nation Building mantra: "We are Nation Builders" , gives a glaringly sound definition to the impact of NABCO - building the nation through the provision of jobs.

Must we define the conditions of NABCO trainees as "abhorrent"? A resounding NO!

Ostensibly, the author of the article, "THE ABHORRENT WORKING CONDITIONS OF NABCO TRAINEES" has hinted NABCO TRAINEES and the general public on his position as one of the people contracted to tarnish the image of the NABCO initiative.

For the record, no political administration can effectively run the nation to fetch the achievements chalked by the NPP.

 

Do Not Be Misled By The Mudslingers Who Only Work For Mayhem

My fellow trainees, we have tasted, seen, and practically been moulded into the benefits of the Nation Builders Corps. We have been given every reason to embrace this impressive intervention to charter the right path for our future. A program that has exterminated dispondency and resurrected hope for the youth mustn't be misrepresented in the eyes of the public.

 

The Prospect Of Nabco Is Being Revived

It is with much pleasure to inform you all that measures have been put in place to streamline the modus operandi of NABCO with a refreshing dimension. The permanent employment narrative shall face a materialistic effect as the stakeholders are advancing plans to get more trainees secure permanent employment. It is in this light that you should not allow anybody confound your positive judgement of the scheme.

 

Payment Of Stipends

Payment of stipends delayed for some of the months due to data challenges. It should be noted that in an attempt to protect the public purse and ensure that the right Nation Builders are paid what is due them, the Secretariat has employed a cautious approach to making payments. Monies paid as allowances must be accounted for, thus, the National Secretariat is undertaking due diligence to ensure that the right thing is done.

The National Secretariat finds no need refusing to give out what is due beneficiaries after validation, NABTAG still urges the authorities to immediately adopt fast payment system in dealing with payment issues found as the major challenge now

 

The NPP Government Must Be Retained To Sustain The NABCO Initiative

The facts clearly show that no other political party has the foresight to man the nation with such remarkable administerial competence, except the NPP. We have experienced the deadly administration of the NDC, a bunch of incompetent entities who only fight for power to enrich themselves. We cannot afford to make such deadly mistake by bringing into power the poison that was discarded in 2016, NDC. We must all rally behind the NPP: 4 more 4 Nana to do more 4 NABCO trainees
