The Bono East Regional Health Director, Fred Adomako Boateng has commended the generous donation made by Unity Link Financial Service to the Ghana Health Service as a means to equip frontline workers to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, no company has been able to contribute immensely to embolden the frontline workers since COVID-19 outbreak, describing that the donation will forever go into the books of the Health Service as one of the paramount.

 

 

“I think I have been around for the past three four months, I don’t know of any company that has given such a generous amount to the Ghana Health Service,” he said.

“I don’t know any Ghana entity that has been able to match such a generous donation to the Ghana Health Service. We will forever remember what they (Unity Link Financial Service) have done for us,” he added.

Unity Link Financial Service gave away 400 PPE kits, 3500 N95, 12,100 hand gloves, 1000 goggles, 400 sanitizers, 45 veronica buckets plus an amount of GH₵200,000.00 to the Ghana Health Service to support the fight.

 

 

 

Fred Amoako gave an update of the allocation of the endowment that, “the Kumasi South Hospital in the Ashanti Region will receive the items. The Ga East and the Ridge Hospitals are also benefiting from them in the Greater Accra. Koforidua, Begoro and Suhum hospital in the Eastern Region also will gainfrom the items whiles the North East also have Wale Wale on the list.”

 

 

Speaking at the Regional Directorate Conference Hall on Monday, April 20, 2020 during the presentation, the Representative of Unity Link Chief Executive Officer, Richard Awuah revealed that contributions have also been made in to Accra, WaleWale, Suhum, and Begoro as a means to help constrain the COVID-19 and define their corporate responsibility to the nation.

“As the president normally says, we are not in normal times. As an organization we took it upon ourselves to also play our role and embark on cooperate, social responsibility to help contribute our quota as far as the fight against COVID-19 is concerned to equip the staff of the Ghana Health Service, specifically the frontline workers,” he said.

 

 

“We are all aware that the president has instituted a fund which is a national fund supported by others hence our contribution. We also know that the state is contributing to state items to various localities affected by the disease. As a way of supporting the vulnerable, we are also here to contribute towards that. We hope that our widow’s mite will go along way to help those communities in need of these items,” he added.
