New Juaben South NDC Blasts Kofi Baafi For Religious Bigotry Comments

The National Democratic Congress  (NDC) in the New Juaben South Constituency has condemned a recent comment made by Micheal Okyere Kofi Baafi, the Member of Parliament Parliament (MP) for the constituency that the constituents should "Vote for a Muslim for the first time as President of Ghana."

The NJS NDC accused Kofi Baafi of promoting religious bigotry, incendiary and reckless comment, particularly coming from an MP.

Chairman Selassie Amuzu said the statements made by the legislature were dangerous and portrayed a great danger to the peace and stability of New Juaben South Constituency and the country.

He reminded Mr. Kofi Baafi, the Constituency and Ghana had come a long way in fostering religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, admonishing religious differences, saying "We have one Ghana, one people and one nation united by common destiny".

The NDC is also asking the MP to retract his inflammatory and dangerous comments and apologize unconditionally for his disservice to the NJS.

They further called on the National and Regional Peace Council, religious bodies and traditional leaders to condemn reckless utterances made by the MP.

Terrible Road Network at NJS Zango

The NDC is rather calling on Mr. Kofi Baafi to fix the terrible roads in Koforidua Zango to boost economic activities in the area than making bigotry comments.

According to the NDC, the poor state of Koforidua Zango roads makes transportation of goods and services difficult, especially to the market areas.

The NDC's other worry is the abandoned of Koforidua Zango health facility and challenged Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to point a single projects executed at Koforidua Zango.

Mr. Kofi Baafi should lobby to have Koforidua Zango terrible roads fixed," the statement said.
