Nana Addo has successfully drilled a new oil well in our pocket-Ako Gunn

As the controversial electronic transactions levy kick starts on May 1, 2022, the Deputy Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Mr. Godwin Ako Gunn has described it as drilling a new oil well in our pocket".

According to him, it was a sad news for president of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to have welcomed Ghanaians to the month of May with rather drilling a new well in the Ghanaian pocket.

He said the president has no mercy on even emergency cash that must be sent for medical purposes.

He advised that even emergency cash needed to be sent strategically.

"Find your own way of going round the obnoxious E-levy. Each one for himself", he said.

"The Nana-Bawumia government is calling on the Ghanaian worker, who over the years have been called magicians because of their ability to survive with their little earnings to take their magical powers a step higher because it will milk the last liquid on their phones to sustain their lifestyle", he mocked.

"For the avoidance of doubt, those who were unsuccessful in withdrawing their cash before today, just know that the state owns 1.5% of the cash on your phones. Don't ask me what it has done to merit that share.

I am only passing an information to you. You are the new oil well the government just drilled", the Deputy NDC Communicator alluded.

This, he said in a write up copied to this news portal adding, "Let me salute the minority in Parliament for all their efforts from the fisticuffs, the walk out, the court actions amongst others. You did all that you could for your electorates. No one can blame you for the failures of this insensitive government", he admonished.

He said the finance minister has his fingers crossed watching how the clock ticks towards his set target.

He alleged that the finance minister had been waiting to analyze the trend for the next 3 to 6 months to know how much loan he can use the E-levy to contract.

"As long as the minority's case remains in court, never lose hope. It can take forever, but it will be in the interest of investors to understand the trend and the controversies of this E-levy before they take any investment decision", Mr. Gunn assured.

"A tax that does not fulfill all parliamentary righteousness can not stand the test of time. Let's tighten ourself for more difficulties and hardships, but remember there are better days ahead", he cautioned.

But, that notwithstanding, I expressed his utmost appreciations to the workforce for the dedications and commitment.

Whilst wishing the workforce a happy World Worker's Day celebrations, he assured that there would be a day to be happy about soon.

"Happy new month and a Happy Worker's Day to all Worker's Day",he said.
