Jose Mourinho says Spurs might welcome a few players to their squad as the transfer window fades.

The Premier League club have already secured the services of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid on a season loan. Sergio Reguilon also signed from the Los Blancos on a permanent transfer in a fee of £28million (€30m) for the left-back.

The transfer market is active until October 5, and according to the Portuguese, new players could join his squad to compete in the Premier League.

“The market is open, we have a good squad," he said.

"Can we have a better squad than we have now? Yes, we can. Is the club trying to build that balanced squad that we all want? Yes, we are trying. Let’s see I that’s possible.”

Spurs lost their first game at home to Everton by a goal to nil, notched by Calvert Lewin. Mourinho attacked his side’s approach and challenged them in their subsequent matches.

A 5-2 resounding victory at Saint Mary’s stadium gave them the required points towards seeking to achieve a top-four spot following their 2-1 win against Lokomotiv Plovdiv in their second qualifying round of their Europa League.

Spurs further clinched a 3-1 victory against Shkendija in the European Third qualifying round game on Thursday night at the Philip II Arena.

They will welcome Newcastle United at home on Sunday.
