Mensin Gold Bibiani In Fresh Trouble
The scores of farmers at Lineso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region have instituted  a legal claim against the Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited over what they described as insufficient compensation.
According to the leaders of the group, the aim of their action is to ensure that they get fair compensation from the mining firm after their farm products have been taken over by the miners.
The farmers have, however, through their solicitors served notice to the management of the mine to confine them from proceeding on their announced survey in their farmlands.
‘‘We have taken legal suit against the Mensin Gold firm over their unlawful counting of our farm products and compensation. They want to cheat on us through the counting, however we do not understand why they have to give low prices to us for our farm stocks knowing well we cannot get our food stuffs back’’, they asserted.
The oppressed farmers recounted that they will proceed the matter to the basement until they get justice.
‘‘Can you imagine some farmers are given four thousands for about four acres of cocoa farms? This is very painful and we are calling on the authorities to come to our aid so that the mining authorities cannot con on us’’. They added.
An aged woman who shared her agony with this portal narrated that she has since get heart attack after the surveyors came to her farm and counted her commodities, but decided to give her some peanut.
‘‘I am sick because the volume written as restitution for me is small. They declared there is something called percentage after the counting, meanwhile we the farmers don’t understand it, we can see that the miners just want to take us for granted since they know we cannot read and write, we are soliciting with Member of Parliament, Alfred Obeng Boateng and other well-to-do entities in the municipality to assist us.’’
