Liverpool Football Club has officially confirmed to use two different squad simultaneously to honor the Carabao Cup quarterfinal and the FIFA Club World Cup tournament.

The Reds will kick start their FIFA Club World campaign on December 18 with the Carabao last eight-fixture set to be honored also on Tuesday, December 17. Jurgen Klopp's men will have six midweek fixtures in between November 27 and January 2 to honor.

“The club would like to take this opportunity to underline that while this is not an ideal scenario, it is an outcome which was arrived at with the best interests of the competition, our fellow clubs and ourselves as the sole motivating factor,

”We would like to thank the EFL for their efforts to accommodate us and we can confirm alternative dates were discussed, but ultimately none were considered suitable without compromising the scheduling of the competition itself or placing an undue strain on our playing staff,” according to a statement released by the club on Tuesday evening ahead of their UEFA Champions League match against Genk.

Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool 5-4 win on penalties against Arsenal in the League Cup disclosed in a pre-match conference that the oppressing fixtures are too much for his team and might call it quit if nothing is done about the date for honoring their game.

"It shows the problem we have in the Premier League that no one cares about things like this, so that's how it is.

"The competition is there, we play the game, if we have no time for the next round we cannot change it.

"FIFA tells us we have to go to the Club World Cup, the Premier League tell us we have to play in the Carabao Cup so we try to play it, but if we don't find time it will not happen in our winter break or whatever they give us, because we need that.

"So, I don't care to be honest. It just shows what the problem is. Everybody wants us to play constantly, we've just thought about tonight - we're not thinking about the next round."

In a statement released on Tuesday, the EFL and Liverpool FC have agreed based on December 17 for the Reds to ‘meet its commitment to the Crabao Cup, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup.

According to the EFL Football Services Director, Dave Cookson,: “The EFL is very aware of the challenges Clubs face when participating across numerous competitions at home and abroad, and whilst we will always look to work with Clubs our overwhelming priority has to be to protect the integrity of the Carabao Cup and ensure any decisions taken are in the best interests of the competition.

“The EFL has long-acknowledged that this competition provides those Clubs with large resources with the opportunity to rotate their squads knowing that teams who wish to be successful have to be prepared to play a large amount of matches over the course of the season.

“Therefore, in these exceptional circumstances the decision was taken having received clear assurances from the Club that there will be a level of consistency in team selection, a feature which is key to ensuring integrity is maintained.

“We recognise the challenges Liverpool face in this matter and appreciate the efforts made to find a practical solution. Finally, I would like to wish the Club well in representing the English game at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.”
