Let's be gentle with Ghana's young artists and give them a chance - Sarkodie

Sarkodie, known as the "Landlord of Ghana Music," used his Twitter account (now known as his X account) on Friday, August 4, 2023, to provide his enlightening viewpoint on the difficulties facing the younger generation of artists entering the media-driven world of today.

The 'Confam' rapper, who has made a name for himself in the entertainment business, expressed sympathy for the challenges experienced by emerging artists navigating both social and traditional media channels.

Sarkodie reflected on his own experience and said, "My generation was coming up, and we had time to make our mistakes behind cameras and at least work on our approach to this business (how to speak during interviews, stagecraft, how to deal with this industry in general),"

Sarkodie emphasized the distinct difficulties that the next generation of artists faced by making a striking parallel.

"Still learning, but comparing to these young kings coming up, they literally starting right in front of our eyes (social x traditional media)," he said.

In contrast to his own experience, up-and-coming artists in Ghana today must negotiate the complexities of the entertainment industry in real-time, which leaves little opportunity for the solitude to pick up new skills and develop.

Sarkodie's support for the welfare of up-and-coming musicians has resonated with fans, fellow musicians, and industry insiders alike, sparking a wave of support and agreement on social media. Sarkodie is one of Ghana's most significant characters in the music industry.

Sarkodie, who is now on tour in the United States, made a sincere appeal for support and nurturing of these emerging talents.

He said sympathetically, "It's not easy at all for them.

He urged the business at large, as well as his supporters, to treat these budding musicians with compassion and understanding.

He sincerely begged, adding an emoji of folded hands, "I would urge we take it easy on them and give them a chance."
