Kintampo's Public Schools Are Being Held Back By A Desk Deficit Of Over16,000 Desks.

Teaching and learning in the Kintampo Municipality of the Bono East area are being hampered by a lack of desks in the majority of public schools.

According to school enrollment statistics, approximately 10,000 pupils do not have a suitable area or desk to sit at during the school day.

Students are forced to study on benches and other inconvenient locations due to the scenario.

The Municipal Chief Executive Honourable Isaac Baffoe and his entourage commemorated their initiative by handing over the first batch of 600 desks to the Education Directorate to alleviate the Kintampo Municipality's over 16, 000 desk deficit.

The MCE stressed in a brief statement that the desks would be allocated equitably and evenly across several institutions.

Honorable Isaac Baffoe urged all stakeholders, especially students, to preserve the furniture to ensure that it lasts for the next group of pupils.

Mr. Sylvester Opoku, the Municipal Director of Education, accepted the desks and conveyed his gratitude to the MCE for taking such an initiative.

He goes on to say that the desks arrived just in time to address several teaching and learning issues that existed in public schools.

He also stated that this will assist in resolving the issue of insufficient furnishings in local public schools.
