The Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene has expressed concern about the growing degradation of the area’s environment through illegal logging and illegal mining.

She described the situation as disturbing and urged the forestry task force, Assembly Members, chiefs, the unit committees and other stakeholders to do more to rein in the offenders in their various communities across the region.

Justina Owusu-Banahene disclosed this on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, when she held separate meetings with the Regional Security Council, District and Municipal Security Council at Dormaa West and Dormaa Central respectively.

At Dormaa West, the purpose was to find lasting solutions to the various security challenges confronting the area and also intensify the fight against illegal lumbering, whilst at Dormaa Central measures were put in place to eradicate illegal mining among others.

The Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene also said, this impunity needs to be tackled head-on without wasting time and as such, the Regional Coordinating council together with the various  Security Committee had put in place some radical measures to check these illegal activities.
