Kenyan MP dies after hit-and-run motorcycle crash

After being injured in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident in Kenya's capital city of Nairobi, a lawmaker from that country passed away while getting medical attention at a hospital.

Kullow Maalim Hassan served as a second-term member of parliament for Kenya's northeastern Banisa district.

His relatives confirmed to local media that the MP was struck on Saturday by a motorcycle rider going too fast. Tuesday night, his death was officially declared.

On social media, lawmakers have been praising their comrade.

Kimani Ichung'wah, the leader of the majority party in parliament, praised Maalim as a "dedicated and committed public servant."

Kulow was a decent man who was especially committed to his oversight and other parliamentary responsibilities, according to Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
