Kaywa: Secular music is not worldly

Popular Ghanaian music producer Kaywa requests that people refrain from equating worldly and secular music because they are not the same.

Kaywa: Secular music is not worldly

The musician who has collaborated with both gospel and secular artists claims that the two genres are distinct from one another. However, musicians who don't perform gospel music are unfortunate labeled as wordly when it shouldn't be the case.

Kaywa, real name David Kojo Kyei, highlighted on Joy Prime's Celeb Biz Show that only secular music is highly condemned by the Bible, not worldly music.

"We must realize that secular music is not inherently bad. Talking about the secular and the worldly are two separate things. God detests anything that is worldly. An artist who consistently use coarse language is one example. On the other hand, love songs that are secular can also be spiritual.

"So instead of trying to open up and expose secular and worldly musicians as people who are not from God, we should rather mirror the good ones and leave the bad ones behind," he said.

According to Kaywa, the lack of understanding between the two may have pushed some gospel musicians to avoid working with their counterparts on the opposing side.

He thinks that Christians have a responsibility to define love correctly and show it to other people, and he encourages gospel musicians to work with secular musicians since that is the right course of action.
