The former Power Minister, Kwabena Donkor has indicated his preparedness to submit himself to any probe to unravel the mystery surrounding how a 170 million judgement debt was awarded against the government of Ghana.

Attorney General, Godfred Dame earlier accused the erstwhile Mahama government of entering into a power agreement with Ghana Power Generation Company.

News, however, broke earlier this week that the government's termination of the contract has led to the award of a 170 million Dollars judgment debt against the government of Ghana.

Mr Kwabena Donkor contends he cannot be blamed for the award of the judgment debt against the government.

He further added that the law states that persons involved in an issue should avail themselves of investigations to be done.

He also indicated his readiness to submit himself to any probe.

“Parliament didn't take the right way to terminate the contract hence government decided to take the issue to court which it stated that the government did not handle the issue well,” he said

“The government of Ghana was given an extra time which also elapsed which resulted in Ghana adding extra judgment debt of about 170 million dollars”, he explained

However, Parliament will not sit on Friday, today 25th June 2021. This is to enable Members of Parliament to travel to their various constituencies to participate in the ongoing National Population and Housing Census.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Honourable Afenyo-Markin and MP for Effutu, who announced this during his presentation of the Business Statement, said the decision not to sit on the 25th of June was taken by the Business Committee in consultation with the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
