The Asanteman Nkosuo, NPP Mpuntuo (progress) pressure Group have cautioned the New Patriotic Party leadership to end the attitude of lingering assistance meant for the grassroots until election time.

This according to them is the reason why the party lost so many seats in the December 2020 elections because the grassroots felt their services were not considered necessary which in a way undermined their campaigning efforts during the polls although the party sailed through on a slim margin.

According to the Chairman of Asanteman Nkosuo NPP Mpuntuo who doubles as the founder of Nana Pepeye Kuo, Dr. Mohammed Issah Ababio, welcoming the grassroots and engaging them in the day to day activities of decision making increases their optimism of working hard instead of neglecting them when power is handed through their sweat.

“Our party leaders remember party faithful members and grassroots only when it is time for the election,” he said.

“We are pleading to our leaders to desist from this act and surely the star will be our limit. We want to appeal to all leaders to listen to our concerns ad grievances as party grassroots and provide us with the right tools and materials that will enable making the need a reality,” he added.

The Asanteman Nkosuo NPP Mpuntuo identifiable group was present to grace the swearing-in ceremony of fresher students at the University of Education, Mampong Campus on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

The event also provided the platform for students who wished to join TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy), a student wing of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to be fastened, and the Asanteman Nkosuo was invited to convey the message of hope to recruits on issues affecting the party and the need to come together and resolve such.

Dr. Mohammed Issah Ababio acknowledged the administration of the New Patriotic Party from the time of the former President, John Agyekum Kufuor to the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. He challenged that the incumbent government is much more competent than the former (National Democratic Congress) yet hard work is still required from the NPP if its governance can be extended in the years ahead.

He enlightened that the NPP still has a lot to offer in terms of transforming Ghana yet the mechanism of the party is always made manifest when the origins are taken care of since they are the interpreters of the good installations of the President to the people beyond in a language they understand more.

He reiterated that “we are not enemies to the party but our main aim is to fight for the interest of all the grassroots and also to support the NPP party at all times.”

The Member of Parliament for Mampong, Honourable Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong was also there to spice the occasion.
