Klopp embrace Salah after he won the match ball

Hat trick hero, Mohamed Salah has admitted that the Champions are learning to play without fans in the stadium as they seek to defend their league title.

The Reds played a thrilling 4-3 scoreline behind closed doors at home to newly-promoted Leeds United.

An 88-minute spot-kick conversion from the Liverpool star gave Jurgen Klopp's side the needed three points of the game as they stretched their unbeaten run to 60 matches.

Salah became the first to score a hat trick on Matchday one of a league season since John Aldridge against Charlton in 1988-89.

According to the Egyptian, the result is an inspiration to the entire squad at the start of a new season and he believes the team will try as much as possible not to work as a unit and avoid conceding much goals.

"We shouldn't have conceded three but this is the game, we have to react for that and we did a good job.

"It's a tough team, to be fair. They had a great game. There's no fans but they play, they react really well and they scored three goals against us – that's huge.

"I'm happy about the result and we have to keep on improving and try not to concede as many goals."
