A section of the general public has expressed views with regards to the recent brouhaha about Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) in the country.

Speaking with Soiree News, while some of them called on the government to state the position of the country on the issue, some believe it is a personal decision and mindset which can only be taken by the individuals.

Various stakeholders in nation-building have been condemning the act calling on the government to as a matter of urgency arrest and prosecute high ranked personalities involved in the act.

Various Religious Based Organisations including the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to arrest and prosecute leaders who are involved in the LGBTQI

According to the Council, it views the action by the LGBTQI movement as an affront to our long-cherished Religious values, customs, and traditions as well as the laws of Ghana.

“The actions of the LGBTQI movement are also completely at variance with the laws of God as spelled out in the Holy Bible concerning God’s plan of creation and the sanctity of marriage between Man and Woman as ordained by God", they stressed.

It said although the church respects the human rights of homosexuals, it frowns upon acts of homosexuality.

The Head pastor for the Powerhouse Assemblies of God at Duadaso a community in the Jaman North constituency in the Bono Region, Pastor Samuel Akwasi Fuseini has also condemned the act and the call for its legalization in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with Soiree News, Pastor Fuseini insisted that, it is a taboo, great sin for Ghana to allow or  legalise a demonic act like LGBTQI.

He added that Pastors in the various Churches across the country have always preached the negative impact and the wrath of God that will befall us when we engage ourselves in same-sex marriage and its related activities therefore it is an abomination to legalise the inhumane act.

However, a greater portion of the general public says the act is ungodly which does not need to be tolerated in Ghana.
