Kimmy has warned Ghanaian artists who intend to pursue highlife to be resilient.

According to her, the genre cannot bring immediate fame and wealth.

She argued that other genres, including Dancehall, Hip-hop, Afrobeats, among others are surefire ways to success.

"Most upcoming artists are looking for a fast breakthrough in the music industry and you won’t be recognised easily if you decide to do Highlife.

"For many young and upcoming female artistes following the recent trends of music in the country remain the ultimate ticket of success, the opportunities in pursuing Highlife is very narrow,'' she said in an interview.

Her estimation corroborates Kaakyire Kwame Appiah advice, who earlier noted that the music industry is losing its root connection to highlife music.

The legendary Ghanaian artiste argued that highlife isn't played enough on radio stations, making new artists move away from the genre since they know it won't trend.

He pointed out that the legends who started highlife are no longer around to infuse it into the tradition as most of them have now diverted into other businesses because they felt the needed airplay had not been given to Highlife music on the airwaves.

“Pure Highlife doesn’t get enough airplay because the modern Ghanaian DJ’’s would love to play Afrobeats, Afro-pop, Dancehall, among others and it is understandable because of what the youth prefers nowadays.

“There are not enough Highlife DJ’s in the system now to promote Highlife music and it has made us seem redundant but we have lots of unreleased songs,’ she said.
