Kofi Kinaata broke his own record at the recently concluded 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards over the weekend.

The prolific Fante songwriter bagged the Songwriter of the Year award for the fourth time in a row, beating his own previous record of three times in a row.

As a former Castro protege, Kofi Kinaata is not new to fame and accolades, but even he could not hold down his excitement as he took to Twitter to celebrate his achievement.

“Another One! I set a record last year.. and I’ve broken my own record this year! The only Ghanaian Flag of Ghana artiste to win the VGMA Songwriter Award for the FOURTH time! Glowing starGlowing starGlowing starGlowing star #VGMA22 #TeamMooove.” He wrote.

On a night where records were broken and new ones set, where Diana Hamilton shone the brightest by winning the major awards; MzVee grabbed the Best Video of the Year, Keche won Group of the Year, new artiste Abiana won Female Vocalist of the Year and MOG Music for the second consecutive time won the Male Vocalist of the Year award.

The award show was held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), hosted by Giovanni Caleb, Berla Mundi, and Nana Adjoa Akuoko-Sarpong.
