Javier Tebas has opined that the Laliga brand will continue to grow regardless of which player leaves the Spanish league.

The Laliga president complemented that Lionel Messi’s impact in the game has been massive yet the hard work to keep sprouting the league is not based on a star player’s commitment to team hence the potency of the brand even at the departures of Neymar and Ronaldo from Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

Barcelona's 8-2 demolition by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions Leagues led to the appointment of Ronald Koeman who axed four key players out of the team including Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic.

Lionel Messi was at crossroads regarding his future with the Blaugranas as LaLiga stood at Barcelona’s defence and cautioned Messi of compensations if he does not fulfil the remainder of his contract after a burofax was submitted to the Catalan club by the Argentine, determining his position to leave the club.

The player’s exit would have affected Laliga financially yet Tebas believes that life will still go on as planned by Laliga.

"If Messi had left, we had still sold the rights for the next four seasons around the world," Tebas said at a gala hosted by Italian Publication La Gazzetta dello Sport. "No one called us to say that they would have ended the contract if Messi went.

"Players are important, but things continue. Cristiano and Neymar left and we have continued to grow. This is because of the work we've done to grow the LaLiga [Santander] brand. There's not one player that transforms the entire league. I think that LaLiga Santander has a brand that can't be compromised."

He admitted that the World Best player is indeed a money-making instrument and would effect a mass transformation in every league and club he chooses but Laliga have prepared for his exit in a way which will not affect the brand.

"I love watching Messi playing in Spain," "He's a money-making machine.

"We've been preparing for Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's exit for years so that it didn't bring a financial trauma. Neymar went to Paris Saint-Germain and the French league hasn't grown at an international level. Cristiano went to Turin [to join Juventus] and Serie A didn't either," he added.
