FORMER PRESIDENT H.E John Dramani Mahama has stormed Shai Osudoko District Hospital in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region to celebrate his 65th birthday on Wednesday.

As part of the occasion, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has donated badly-needed medical equipment, including two modern incubators, two phototherapy machines and four Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines in response to an urgent appeal from the Medical Director of the facility.

"Earlier today, I returned to the Shai Osudoko District Hospital in Dodowa, which I inaugurated in 2016, to share the joy of my 65th birthday with the patients, staff and management.
"In response to a request received on Monday, Lordina and I presented two modern incubators, two phototherapy machines and four CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machines to the facility," he writes

He indicated that he also served both patients and the staff with a hot birthday meal and donated food and non-food items to the hospital.
According to him, his Lordina and him also handed over school bags with exercise books, pencils and crayons to the children.

"I congratulated the Medical Director, Dr. Kennedy T. C. Brightson and his team for their sense of professionalism, patient care and the maintenance of the facility almost eight years after its inauguration.
"I am happy to return to my favourite hospital environment to celebrate my 65th birthday," Mr Mahama noted.
He stressed that this was the first of six district hospitals to be completed under my government's initiative to build first-class health facilities in every district to bring quality healthcare closer to Ghanaians.

Receiving the machines on behalf of the hospital management, Dr. Kennedy T. C. Brightson, Medical Director of the hospital said, the presentation was timely as they were donated at the time the hospital was hard-pressed for such an equipment to augment the three, which were not enough as a result of many referrals coming from many of the surrounding communities.
He appealed to other philanthropists and benevolent organisations to emulate the humanitarian gesture of the donors, since the hospital was in dire need of at least five CTG medical equipment to continue to save lives in their catchment area.
