Government t making effort to reduce borrowing-Buabeng Asamoah

National communication director of the NPP, Lawyer Yaw Buabeng Asamoah has said, the government is making effort to reduce the number of times the country borrow from the Western countries.

Commenting on the speech delivered by the Vice President on the state of the economy at the TESCON program when speaking on Ark in the morning monitored by Soiree News, the former Adenta MP said, almost all the projects in the country are funded by loans from the western economies and this has caused the nation’s debt stock to increase rapidly.

He noted that, gov’t has made efforts to reduce the number of borrowing and generate revenue internally to fund all projects.

Dr. Bawumia during the lecture yesterday mentioned the Wenchi water project among the projects funded with loans since 2017.

Meanwhile, Soiree inews checks indicates that, the project two years since its sod cutting has not commenced.

Lawyer Buabeng Asamoah said, it will be prudent on the part of the regional minister and or the MCE to follow up to the Presidency to make enquiries as to why the project has not started.

The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo is dissatisfied with Vice President, Mahumudu Bawumia’s address on the state of Ghana’s economy.

Mr. Adongo said the address was sub-par, failing to touch on the main factors accounting for Ghana’s current economic challenges.

Responding to the statement from the NDC MP he said, the usual NPP and NDC politicking would continue to exist but the MP should appreciate that the Vice President has made the nation aware of the root cause of our suffering.
