The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has urged Muslim youth to exercise restraint during the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations to avoid unwanted road traffic accidents and other unpleasant events.

In a news release commemorating the occasion, the Association wished the Muslim community a peaceful celebration.

"GMA congratulates you on completing this important pillar of Islam and wishes you a pleasant, restful, and uneventful celebration," the group said.

The Eid-Ul-Fitr festival occurs during the first three days of Shawwal, the Islamic calendar's tenth month, and commemorates the completion of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

It is observed to express appreciation to Allah for providing Muslims with guidance and strength throughout the month of Ramadan to enable them to practice self-control.

The GMA congratulated Muslims on their successful completion of the Ramadan fast on this auspicious day.

"On behalf of the Ghana Medical Association's National Executive Council and the whole membership, we express our best wishes to our Muslim doctors, all Muslim health professionals, and the entire Muslim community on this auspicious occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr."
