The Ghana Water Company Limited has reminded Ghanaians that government’s free water as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus will end on December 31, 2020.

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources earlier revealed that government of Ghana spent GH 834m on the nine-month coronavirus-induced free water and despite being costly, have saved a lot of lives.

As told by the president, Nana Akufo Addo on the duration of the directive, the Ghana Water Company Limited has reminded that customers will begin to make payments from January.

“Customers of GWCL must please note that from hence, the payment of Water bill will be the responsibility of the customer,” the statement said.

“The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources and the Management of the GWCL, therefore, wish to inform consumers and the general public that the last meter reading of the month of December 2020 officially ends the water delivery,” it added.
