Four children in the Kokonma district in the northern region drawn in the Volta river hence their bodies have been retrieved and deposited in the mortuary

FOUR(4)  CHILDREN DROWN IN THE VOLTA  RIVER AT KONKOMA-YEJI

Four(4) boys have drowned in the Volta Lake at Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.

The sad incident occurred at Konkoma a suburb of the Yeji township.

According to the families, the four boys were reported missing on Monday evening.

The bodies of the boys have been retrieved from the lake today.

The four boys were identified as Umaru 10yrs, Ali 8yrs, Mubarack 12yrs, and Ibrahim 7yrs.

Two of them from one parent and the other two from different parents, simply three (3) families lost their kids together. 

One of the parents said, he received a call from his wife, asking about the kids thinking they might be with him. He told the wife to search around since they are not with him but to no avail, they reported to the police station, later announced on the radio. 

The Assemblyman of Konkoma Electoral Area Hon. Philip Ngyemeneko added that he received a call from the parents in the morning asking him to assist them to find the boys, shortly he was called back to come to the riverside as the kids were found floating on the river

Finally, Kyeame of Konkoma Traditional Council Nana Kwaku Beke Akesi said, in July last year, they saw a crocodile in the river that is unusual to them. Nananom realize all is not well so they performed some rituals before it disappeared. 

Some people perform certain activities that have spiritual implications on the river hence it's taking away lives.

The Yeji Police have begun investigations into the incident.
The bodies have been deposited at the St Matthias Hospital Morgue waiting for autopsy.
